BSL Level 1

Overview

The British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 Course is designed for learners with no prior experience of BSL. It introduces the basics of BSL and helps you learn to communicate with Deaf people without barriers. Alongside language skills, you will gain insights into Deaf culture. 

Duration

32 weeks, including three assessments (Units 101, 102 and 103). 

Accreditation

Successful completion of the course awards the official Signature BSL Level 1 Award. 

Teaching Method 

Live Zoom Sessions, offering interactive and engaging lessons from the comfort of your home or anywhere. 

Target Audience

Anyone eager to learn British Sign Language, whether for personal development, work, or to build bridges with the Deaf community. 

Course Highlights

  • Build vocabulary in topics like fingerspelling, eating and drinking, transport, directions, holidays, family, hobbies, work, and school. 
  • Understand Deaf culture and etiquette.
  • Develop foundational signing skills to progress confidently onto BSL Level 2.

13 January 2025 (Mondays at 1:30pm to 3pm) OR 15th January 2025 (Wednesdays at 7pm to 9pm).
