Assistive Technology for the Hard of hearing, Deaf and Blind

Shifa (Outreach Officer) organised a workshop on technology equipment for the deaf, hearing loss, deafened, deafblind or blind, the majority have no knowledge of technology that could help their daily routine as many clients may not have any technology to assist with their daily lives, such as alarm clocks, doorbells, and fire alarms.

Technical rehabilitation officer Iona from Wolverhampton City Council took part to explain their roles, which involve supporting those with hearing loss, deaf/blindness, and blindness. This allowed clients to get to know them and seek further support.

Thanks to Technical rehabilitation officer Iona who managed to give clients a good experience as she gave different types of blind glasses of what it is like to be blind, this was very interesting.

They also assisted with applications for those seeking technology to support their daily needs.

Sarabec and Hearing Products International LTD also participated to showcase examples of technology, allowing attendees to understand what's available.

Many were pleasantly surprised by the range of products and how they could improve their daily lives without relying on family support, encouraging them to be independent.

If you want to know more details or further information please speak to Shifa at 07723990749 for further details on this.

We want to sincerely thank Iona from Wolverhampton City Council, Sarabec and Hearing Products International LTD for coming and explaining this invaluable information.

This workshop wouldn't have been possible without the 'Know Your Neighbourhood' funding. Your support made a significant impact on the lives of those attending.
