ZEBRA ACCESS’ EMPLOYMENT SERVICES HITTING THE HEIGHTS OF EXPECTATIONS AND BEYOND
We launched a new 2- year Black Country Futures (BCF) employment project in June 2020 and many of our customers who have registered with us have hugely benefitted from the support. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all of our employment services support to date has been provided online via Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime, depending on our participants’ preferences. This meant that it was ‘business as usual’ for our participants who would have missed out elsewhere.
So far, we have registered 13 participants since June and 8 of them have been supported into work or full-time education (7 in work 1 in full-time education) making it a truly impressive 62% conversion success rating on our contract target obligations; and that is despite the challenges of delivering remotely via digital platforms due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
Here are some more stats:
- Total appointments carried out to end January 2021 = 142
- Attendance rate = 98.7%
- Out of the 13 registered clients, 5 had lost jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic but 3 have been successfully returned to other jobs.
During our combined Q1 and Q2 Quarterly Performance Monitoring Contract meeting with Simon Carter, Operations Manager of Steps to Work, Simon commented: “Zebra access are already one of the strongest partners across the partnership, they have successfully integrated a hybrid delivery model which is required due to the current pandemic and are already at the stage where they are overachieving targets. – Well done keep up the good work”
Both Bob, our Employment and Business Development officer, and Chris, the Project and Development Manager, were delighted to receive such high accolade from our contractors but we will not rest on our laurels, there is still much work to be done and to achieve for our Deaf customers.
Chris said: “We are delighted how the project has started and is progressing despite early concerns as to how much of an impact the pandemic would have on our service delivery and performance. The processes of this project has been clear from the outset with Steps to Work robustly leading the way which has been a breath of fresh air”
We look forward to continuing to develop our specialist employment services and expanding further afield with exciting potential prospects in the pipeline for a truly accessible service for all.
