Theatre Trip
The Outreach Officer Shifa organised a theatre trip from Wolverhampton to Birmingham for the hard of hearing and visually impaired community.
Many clients were unaware of how accessible theatres have become for people with hearing loss, most were interested in attending. A majority had lost their hearing at a later age, which meant they used to go to the theatre regularly when they were younger but had stopped due to their hearing loss. However, this trip gave them a lot of confidence as they discovered various accessibility options. Many were unaware that there would be a BSL interpreter, live captions, speech-to-text services, and vocal audio descriptions available.
11 members participated in the trip.
The weather on the day was perfect, and it didn’t rain at all! We left Wolverhampton at 11 AM and didn’t return until 4 PM. Everyone had a great time!
We look forward to more trips in the future.
