Reporting Hate Crime
Zebra Access is an approved Third Party Hate Crime Reporting Centre.
Sean, our Community Development Officer, recently arranged for West Midlands Police to deliver training to Zebra Access Staff. Following this training, staff are now able to receive complaints, on behalf of the Police, about any Hate Crime or Hate Incident targeted at d/Deaf people.
Third Party Reporting Centres are a safe neutral location, within the community, where people can report hate crime or hate incidents without having to contact the Police directly. You can now come to see one of us to report the issue and we will pass your report to the police. Reports can include your name or remain anonymous.
If you feel you are being threatened because of your Deafness, disability, sex, ethnicity, physical appearance, religion, faith, gender identity or sexual orientation then please don't keep it to yourself, just come to see us and we will help you.
Sean Noone, Community Development Officer states:
"I'm delighted that Zebra Access is now recognised and registered as a Third Party Reporting Centre for Hate Crime for D/deaf people. We are working closely with the West Midlands Police to ensure that everyone feels safe from threat, harassment, prejudice and bullying.
Zebra Access will provide stress-free communication access for deaf people with varying communication needs (i.e. British Sign Language, lipreading, SSE and so on) to enable them to report incidents. Please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org/ 07472 958534 to find out more about 'Hate Crime', as a lot of people are victims without actually realising it."
If you feel you need to report a hate crime incident please contact Sean Noone at Zebra Access.
You can email, email@example.com or text/ FaceTime on 07472 958534.
Please remember, if it is emergency text 999 immediately.
